Beyonce's 'Pretty Hurts' Song Hits Home

Yes... most of us would say that Beyonce is beautiful and that she doesn't need to change or enhance one thing about herself. On the other hand, we're not in her shoes and have no idea what she may have to face (critics, haters, media, etc.) to remain 'beautiful' in everyone's eyes. I'm pretty sure it's a STRUGGLE and at the end of the day she hurts too! As a beauty and skincare expert and educator, I want to personally take my hat off to her for creating such an inspirational song, BRAVO Mrs. Carter! 

This song gives light to what every female may suffer from on a daily basis no matter what size you are or how you look…people will ALWAYS hate on you. Even if you're a pageant queen or a regular girl next door, at some point in our lives we all suffer to fit what we are told is the perfect image. We all live in a society that determines how we look, what’s considered beautiful or acceptable and tolerable all through media. Everyday there are women all over the world killing themselves to look the part without recognizing we should stop giving others the power to determine how we look. It’s been proven, pretty in fact does hurt and perfection is the disease of a nation.

Tryna fix something, but you can't fix what you can't see. It's the soul that needs the surgery. Ain't no doctor or therapeutic that can take the pain away, the pain's inside and nobody frees you from your body. Plastic smiles and denial can only take you so far and you break when the faithless sign leaves you in the dark. You left a shattered mirror and the shards of a beautiful girl.
