New Year Beauty Resolutions!

Forget larger than life resolutions you just won't keep! I've listed 14 easy ideas to help you even more beautiful in 2014.

Resolution #1

Throw out your makeup sponge after every use (or at least once a week). You can buy a 32-pack of makeup sponges for less than a Starbucks coffee.

Resolution #2

Wash your face every night before bed (or at least keep cleansing wipes on your nightstand).

Resolution #3

Floss. Daily. Did you know that brushing alone only cleans about 65 percent of your teeth? That's right, flossing daily will clean the other 35 percent your toothbrush misses.

Resolution #4

Get rid of your mascara every six months—it's a breeding ground for bacteria! If you notice a change in smell throw it out sooner.

Resolution #5

Now's a great time to clean out your makeup bag. (Really, when was the last time you used that Chapstick? It has fuzzies all over it.)

Resolution #6

Change your moisturizer to one that has an SPF. Already use one? Use a heavier moisturizer in the winter to protect your skin.

Resolution #7

Exfoliate once a week using our Raw Beauty's Chocolate Body Scrub that's packed with antioxidants that will wipe away dull dead skin to reveal illuminating skin.

Resolution #8

Take a multivitamin every day.

Resolution #9

As good as they feel, try not to take really steamy showers. Super-hot water tends to dry out your skin.

Resolution #10

Post-shower, apply Raw Beauty's Body Polish before you completely towel off. The moisture will lock in better on damp skin than it would if it was completely dry.

Resolution #11

When moisturizing your face, don't just stop at your chin. Apply your skin-care products to both your face and neck for optimal results.

Resolution #12

Since washing your hair can strip it of its natural oils, try to commit to using Raw Beauty's Leave-in Conditioner every two days. It will leave your hair moisturized with a high beam shine.

Resolution # 13

At least once a week, use Raw Beauty's Detox Bath Soak to cleanse away impurities in your body.

Resolution #14

Clean your cell phone. Did you know that it contains more germs per square inch than a public restroom toilet? That's like laying your cheek against the seat in a McDonald's bathroom. Icccckkkk! Use rubbing alcohol and a cotton ball to disinfect.

7 Beauty Sins You Maybe Committing

1. Using Bar Soap
There's nothing wrong with using bar soap on your body, but not recommended to be used on your face. Why you ask? Well bar soaps collect bacteria from your hands, body, soap scum, and other bacteria that build on top of it while in a bathroom. To eliminate the bacteria, it's better to use a liquid soap.

2. Sleeping in your Makeup
Don't forget to cleanse your face. When you go to sleep with makeup on your skin, the skin is unable to breathe, regenerate tissue, exfoliate dead surface cells and heal itself. I must admit…I have sinned and should repent because I'm constantly falling asleep before I even know it. However, whenever I catch myself I will usually cleanse and exfoliate my face when I wake up.

3. Sleeping on the Same Side of Your Face
We can’t always control where our head hits the pillow, but repeatedly snoozing in the same spot can cause fine lines to become permanently etched. You know those sleep lines you see in the mirror when you wake up in the morning, lol! This is because skin is scrunched up against the pillow over and over again. Let's eliminate this impurity.

4. Cleansing with Water that's too Hot
Using hot water can cause capillaries to break on the face. The capillary walls are very thin and elastic, so they are reactive to temperature. To keep skin balanced, always cleanse with lukewarm or tepid water.

5. Rubbing Your Eyes
The area around your eyes is the thinnest, most delicate and sensitive area of the face. It needs to be handled with extreme care. The more you rub it, the more it will stretch. Since there are no oil glands there, the skin has very little give. Repeated rubbing or pulling on the lids, especially when putting in contact lenses, can cause skin to slacken and fine lines to form.

6. Cleansing Your Face Before Your Hair
If you have sensitive skin, this can be a real no-no. Pores get clogged, leading to breakouts, especially along the hairline. Make sure you thoroughly cleanse away any residue from your face after rinsing your hair.

7. Petroleum Jelly
I saved this one for last because it was hard for me to put this one on hear but as a skin care expert, I know the cons and felt it was my duty to share. So first I would like to say that Petroleum jelly is good for dry skin and can hydrate you to no end…I love it on my body and great when using it to remove eye makeup.
On the other hand, it is a GAS! It's not good for your pores and it clogs up your pores and creates excessive oils on your face that create breakouts, acne and enlarged pores and oily skin. There I got it out…lol.

Does drinking through a straw age you?

Can one harmless habit like sipping through a drinking straw age you?

Since recently having clear braces, I started drinking through straws to help eliminate stains from getting on my teeth and my braces. Besides I really hate drinking out of cups…so not lady like to me (personal OCD), lol! Anyways,  I never thought about this very regular habit actually prematurely aging the skin around the mouth!

So finally, the answer is…yes, repeated straw drinking causes people to purse their lips and can create wrinkles from the repetitive muscle motion. Much like frowning causes wrinkles on the forehead. Any repetitive movement can increase the risk of wrinkles. Smoking causes an even deeper crease and wrinkles around the mouth.
Overall in my opinion, I believe it's safe to say that we should all avoid straws altogether if possible and just make sure your cup is clean or use a spoon if it's a milkshake. :)

ICE ICE BABY...FACIAL

Now that it's winter time you have to now SAVE THE FACE from the cold weather with cold ice!

I know it sounds weird but try it before you dismiss it. Just get a face towel and place an ice cube in it and rub it all over your face neck and décolleté area. This icy sensation will tighten your pores, promote blood circulation, soothes acne and smoothes out your complexion all at the same time. Icing is an inexpensive skin toner and is great to do before applying makeup. It minimizes the appearance of enlarged pores underneath the makeup, helping foundation look smoother and flawless. Ice the face and then apply primer. Icing also reduces puffiness under the eyes by reducing swelling. I go on for days about the benefits of ice.

However, do not place an ice cube directly on your face, the extreme cold may break capillaries. So try and use a face towel or a paper towel to create a barrier.

Try it out and tell me what you think….

Is Coconut Oil Good For Your Skin?

Coconut oil has a million uses majority of them for cooking, but it's also GREAT for your skin!

Coconut oil is very good at hydrating your skin. It sinks in deep, conditions, moisturizes, and softens skin. It isn’t pumped full of water or petroleum byproducts like many commercial cleansers or lotions either.

Coconut oil naturally clears away dirt, grime, and dead skin cells. It even has some antibacterial properties, killing off harmful bacteria.

Coconut oil is the all-in-one natural solution to all your skin problems, which is why Raw Beauty uses it in almost all of our beauty products, including body polish, lip and body scrub and bubble bath to name a few.

It soothes bug bites, speeds healing, helps with rashes, gets rid of flaking skin, softens and shrinks wrinkles, protects against sun damage, keeps tans longer, acts as an antioxidant to prevent cellular aging, and so much more.

It also a well kept secret on easily removing hard eyelash extension glue, mascara and any hard to move makeup.

Are Bubble Baths Good For Your Skin?

Are bubble baths good for your skin? The answer is yes on so many levels.

After a long hard day of working, just the thought of sinking into a hot bubble bath can help ease your mind from any tension. Bubble baths offer a fun, inexpensive way to relax and reduce stress.

Bubble Bath Benefits
From soothing aching muscles, to quieting the mind through relaxation, the healing powers of a warm bath reach far beyond merely cleansing the body. In fact, the benefits of allowing a few minutes a day to unwind, de-stress and meditate in the bathtub have been observed and practiced in societies as far back as the ancient Egyptians.

What was once considered a privilege to be enjoyed only by select few (Egyptian royalty), is now an inexpensive yet luxurious way to pamper yourself - simply by sitting in a tub of good old hot water. So the next time you contemplate taking a shower, why not opt instead for a warm, relaxing bath.
Here are some tips to help you celebrate your down time and reap the ultimate rewards from your daily "hydrotherapy" experience:
1.) Bring on the Rose Petals. Often used in products to hydrate and moisturize skin, rose petals add a delightful aroma as well as a luxurious visual aesthetic. Why not grab a single rose on the way home from work and sprinkle a few petals in the bathtub to create an over-the-top multi sensory escape.
2.) Get disconnected. If it rings, beeps, vibrates or will otherwise distract you from your bathing experience, turn it off. Remember, this is time for you to relax, unwind and get in touch with your spiritual self. No electronic communication devices necessary.
3.) Let there be candlelight. One of the easiest ways to send a message to your mind and body that it is time to relax, is to dim the lights and light a candle. Focus on the comfort of the water against your body, the pleasant aroma of your natural bubble bath and the relaxing glow of candlelight. Enjoy the escape. Repeat often.
Go ahead and pour in some of Raw Beauty's Milk & Honey Bubble Bath packed with skin loving oils and allow yourself to be transformed in the comfort of your very own bathroom.

How to Make your Lips Smooth, Soft & Kissable

You’ve heard of body and face exfoliation, but have you heard of lip exfoliation?

That’s right lip exfoliation is one of the hottest buzz words in the health and beauty industry. We need to scrub the dead layers off our skin to maintain smooth and young-looking skin. The same applies to the lips. We must scrub exterior layer of our lips to make keep smooth and kissable!

Raw Beauty's Lip Scrub is safe and even edible! We make our Lip scrubs sweet and great-tasting so scrubbing is healthy and enjoyable....now only $5 and they make great stocking stuffers!

Advantages of Using a Lip Scrub
Removing dead surface of your lips brings out new fresh layers, making lips soft, smooth, and yes, kissable! If this isn’t enough, there are also other advantages that will make you consider scrubbing your lips:
With a smooth surface, lip cosmetics will adhere longer on your lips. This makes lipsticks, lip liner, and lip gloss much more effective and long lasting.
Lip exfoliation makes your lips more moist and retain its moisture longer; helping to prevent cracked lips. If you’ll scrub your lips regularly, you’ll never have to worry about exposure to wind and cold, and getting chapped lips after. Apply a lip scrub on your lips and get moisturized lips, pronto!
I recommend scrubbing your lips and using our lip scrub product at least twice a week, and more during winter. It only takes a few minutes to scrub your lips, so doing it once, even twice a week, is very realistic. You can add it to your evening routine, or simply do it after you brush your teeth. With a lip scrub, achieving smooth, beautiful lips will always be within your reach.

The Secret to Radiant Winter Skin

Does winter have your skin feeling dull and dry? Well I have the answer, two words.BODY SCRUB.
Winter can do a number on our skin. Constant heated air literally sucks moisture out of our pores. Because our limbs are tucked away in clothing, it’s easy to put away razors and other exfoliating tools. Winter can mean dead skin buildup.
It’s time for a moisturizing body scrub!!!
We like sugar scrubs more than salt, which can burn and get into your eyes (and it’s a much healthier option than putting this sweetener in your body). Additionally, sugar contains alpha hydroxy acid, a glycolic acid that helps remove dead skin cells.

Try our best seller, CHOCOLATE body scrub! Chocolate is one of raw beauty's tastiest secrets. It's filled with nourishing ingredients, vitamins, and age –defying antioxidants that improves circulation, boots cell re-growth and moisturizes. The heavenly aroma of chocolate, works instantly on the brain to release those feel good hormones.
